Software, Wordpress No Comments »

I have just found a software that let you clone your wordpress blog to a subdomain without any sweat and in less than 1 minute.

This Software Magically:

Creates a PRECISE copy of your WordPress blogs.

Magically creates a subdomain on your website.

Saves you time so you can quickly make more cash!

And so much more that if I tried to list it all, I’d run out of room on this web page.

If you are interested in this software, just go here http://bit.ly/9NESdX and enter your details to see the free video about it.

Have an outstanding day!

WordPress Developer’s Toolbox

Themes, Wordpress 1 Comment »

I have just encountered a great site for those of you ready to take your WordPress experience one step further.

Smashing Mazagine has released the ‘WordPress Developer’s Toolbox’.

It is a quite large list of various tips, tricks, tutorials, documentation, resources, themes, design help and everything else in between for WordPress. As a matter of fact, I am surprised that it was not released as an “eBook”. I do wish that the data was organized better, with better linking within the article, better headings, smaller and fewer pictures and a better way to navigate. But the collection is quite large and there is lots of information there to browse through.

Check it out and become a experienced WordPress Developer.

I hope that you enjoy it.

Upgrading WordPress

Upgrade, Wordpress No Comments »

WordPress is constantly improving the WordPress software, and once tested make it available to all of us. Now, what does this all mean to you and what do you need to do…

Well, first of all, the process of upgrading your WordPress Software to the newest version is quite simple and easy. I will take you through the process step by step:

  1. Go to http://wordpress.org/download and download the current WordPress version;
  2. Once the download has completed, unzip the download;
  3. Go the folder of the unzipped WordPress file and select the folder wp-content;
  4. Under the folder ‘wp-content’, delete the themes folder;
  5. Go back to the main WordPress folder, and delete the file config-sample.php;
  6. Before uploading the new files to the server, it is recommended that you make a backup of your information. See post about backing up your files. (To be honest, I do not do a backup. Why, maybe being lazy and that until now that I have not encountered any problem. BUT if you are not sure, make a backup. I do not want to hear from anyone that I have told that you do not have to make a backup. WHEN YOU DECIDE NOT TO MAKE A BACKUP IS YOUR OWN DECISION AND RESPONSABILITY);
  7. The last step that you MUST undertake before you upload the new files to the server, is disabling all your plugins. This is really important, as some plugins may not function correctly with the new WordPress version. SO DEACTIVATE ALL PLUGINS BEFORE UPLOADING THE FILES.
  8. Now go to the FTP Manager and select on the server the folder where you have your WordPress installed;
  9. Select on your local drive NOT the folder but the files and subfolders of the new version of WordPress, and upload them to the server;
  10. Once the upload has been finished, open your webbrowser and type the following: yourdomainname/subfolder(if any)/wp-admin/upgrade.php/
  11. And follow the instructions;
  12. And that is it. Well done.

If you have any questions or doubts, let me know. Enjoy the new version of WordPress.

Need support to install and setup your blog?

Install, Support, Wordpress No Comments »

If you still feel unconfident to install your WordPress Blog on a webserver, Coach Erwin can support and help you setting up your blog.

Coach Erwin uses phone/Skype to support you, and also uses, in need of, the Remote Assistance function with Windows Live Messenger.

A basic setup can be done in an one session of one hour, where you at the end:

  • have WordPress installed and working;
  • WordPress installed in your language, if needed;
  • and have a blog ready to mold and use.

A more complete setup contains, next to the basic setup:

  • support in uploading and installing your theme;
  • installation and explanation of the most important plugins.

Want your WordPress Blog installed? Contact Coach Erwin at info@xxx-coach.com

Basic setup: €50 excl. VAT (to be paid before the session).

More Complete Setup: depending on your requirements.

To make the installation process as easy and quickly as possible, you will need to do the following steps before the session:

  • have a webserver where you can have your blog. If you do not have one yet, Coach Erwin recommends Lonex. Coach Erwin already works more than 5 years with Lonex, and is really satisfied with their service and support.
  • download the most current WordPress software version: Download .zip format or Download .tar.gz format
  • have a FTP manager installed and functioning. Coach Erwin uses and recommends SmartFTP.

Installing your WordPress Blog in another language.

Install, Languages, Wordpress No Comments »

You have the possibility to install your WordPress blog in the language you want. To be able to do this, you will have to do some extras steps, which I will explain here.

  1. Go to http://codex.wordpress.org/WordPress_in_Your_Language and select your language from the list, and download the file to your hard disk.
  2. Once it is unzipped, open your FTP Manager and select on the server where you installed the WordPress files, the folder ‘wp-content’.
  3. Under the folder ‘wp-content’ create a subfolder named ‘languages’.
  4. In your FTP Manager, on the harddisk browser, go to the place where you have unzipped the language file.
  5. Select the file with extension ‘.mo’ and upload it to the folder wp-content/languages/
  6. Finally, open the wp-config.php file, and go to line 17 (define (‘WPLANG’, ”);), and enter between the ‘ ‘ your language code. For Spanish from Spain that would be es_ES.
  7. Save the wp-config.php file and upload it to the server.
  8. And that is it. Well done. You have just installed WordPress in the language of your choice.

If you have any question, comment or feedback, feel free to use this post’s comment form.

Have a great and excellent day.
